Apparently you aren't supposed to substitute visine for saline in your contact lenses' case. If you do, your left eye becomes completely dilated whereas your right eye stays normal. Oops!

So I was driving along to pick up Dan, minding my own business, and my tire goes flat. I freak out and call everyone I know. Put the spare on, they say. I took auto shop, I should at least know that. HA! Fat chance. So I'm cowering in the rain, trying to figure out how to jack up the car, when this guy drives up and asks if I need any help. He's wearing expensive Italian shoes, and dressed to a T. He switched tires for me in a snap, and zooms away. Apparently he was looking at houses in that neighborhood because he's a realtor. His name is Ted. Thank you, Ted.

Fuck this new law in it's ungrateful butthole.
Apparently, ladies and gentlemen, not only can we not smoke inside, which is fine, but TWENTY-FIVE FEET away from any establishment.

I've been really mean lately. I'll say something as a joke, but my tone refuses to comply and it comes out sounding serious, which it probably is. The person I'm talking to either stares at me or laughs nervously. It's kind of fun, because Rachael bites right back and things get pretty vicious. I left work sick, today. I'm not feelin so hot. Danny's gone on his ship, and he's sick as well. Pooor us. Rachael took me to get pho, which helped quite a bit, but goddamn the serving sizes are so fucking large. She just eats the whole thing. She's a pho fanatic. Anyways, I miss Amanda Ruud so much. I'm missing all of my friends from San Diego. I'm wearing my hair in pigtails these days, just to rebel against grown-up things like paying bills and not having mommy feed me when I'm sick. I'm fucking happy, goddamnit. Well, a lot better than when I first moved here and watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer straight for 3 months, no job no nothin. That was fun.

Rachael and I went to this cops & robbers party at Tyler's place. I was a rogue kangaroo and she was a burgular. The kangaroo head was too small, so I never wore it, I wore the rogue mask. Apparently I'm playing sweet tunes on my sweet battle axe.

My birthday is in 9 days. I'll be 20. In other news, both Dan and I have been working incessantly. My bosses from Sophie's Donuts opened this cute restaurant called the Boat Street Cafe, which coincides with their catering company, the Boat Street Kitchen. I'm washing dishes for the cafe, as well as my usual Sophie's gig, and it's seriously wiping me out. I don't think I'll be doing it for much longer, but I'm making nice pay. I don't really need, and seriously don't want, to work this much. Dan will be missing my birthday this year, which means I've never spent my birthday with him. That sucks. He'll be gone for our year anniversary, too. But you know ... I'm so happy here with him. It's all good.

So this lady was like, "Mmm these donuts are amazing!" and I said, "They're great, aren't they? The guy who makes the donuts is fantastic." And she glared at me and said, "God just say thank you." and then I turned on the radio and that one Chicago song was playing, "25 or 6 to 4" (wtf??) and then I changed the station and Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" was playing, and durr we all know that they have the exact same hook but Led Zeppelin is better. and THEN Bonnie Tyler's "Turn Around (Bright Eyes)" song came on, and everyone knows that only second to "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right," that is my favorite song. I like the remix better, though. I also got these pair of jeans from the Gap which are fuckin awesome because not only do they fit me perfectly, but they're the perfect length. NO LONGER WILL I BE OPRESSED.

"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes that you can do these things. Among them are a few Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."
-- President Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1952

The Mediterranean Kitchen has mispelled my name on my paycheck since I started working there. How many times have I told them, "No, my name is NOT Hannay or Hannak." So I recieve my check last night, and they spelled it right! This time, however, my last name appears to be "Schwarts." Oh well.

This morning at work (Sophie's) I scalded my wrist thanks to the espresso machine. I have a bunch of angry looking bumps now, it's awesome. Last night I was supposed to work at the restaurant for 1 1/2 hours, but worked 4 and had a little freak out session because my boss was being LOCO. Money = never enough. Dan is in San Diego for several weeks, he's been gone for a week and a half. My friend Scott just graduated from massage school, and gave me an amazing massage yesturday which made everything bearable. Erin left for Ohio yesturday. I vaguely want to make friends, but I'm too busy and tired.
